About Me!

I'm Roxanne!

I like a lot of things:

Special interests that aren't media:

  • The 1920s
  • Arsenic, arsenic poisoning, arsenic's prevalence in the Victorin period for use in skincare, medicine, and pigments like Scheele's green and Paris green which were commonly used in paints and wallpaper
  • Colors in general. The science of color, additive and subtractive color mixing, crayons, paint, digital color spaces like RGB and OKlab, hex codes, video game color palettes, old film types and what colors they were sensitive to, fabrics and pigments, our rods and cones in our eyes, color blindness, the behavior of light
  • Halloween and associated imagery. Monsters, skeletons, spiders, bats, graveyards, the macabre
  • Old cartoons, 1920s and 30s rubberhose animation, rotoscoping. My favorites are Betty Boop and Felix the Cat. (In general, old Fleischer cartoons are superior to Disney cartoons of the same time and I will die on this hill.)
    Also, shout out to the Kit-Cat Klock which (on desktop at least) you can see on the right of this page! They actually still make it and you can get one at kit-cat.com. (Not an ad. I just love this clock and I'm surprised they still make it.)
    Although looking similar to Felix, the clock is not actually of Felix. (Note the whiskers which are present on the clock but not on Felix the cat.

Things I just like:

  • Bats, bees, mice, and spiders
  • Candy. I love candy corn and circus peanuts a lot which I know many people hate. I hate black licorice.
  • The color orange (#FC4000 is my favorite. You'll see it all over this website.)
